Wat Phra Thong

Although Wat Phra Thong is not to be categorised as a very large temple, it will still be able to amaze you with its colourful features and half buried golden Buddha image. If the saying among the locals about this templeit is true, then the Buddha situated there is said to “untouchable”. No man that ever tried to dig it out of the earth has ever done so without being cursed. The saying goes that there once was a farmers boy that tried to dig it out with the help of his buffalo, but very soon after fell ill and died - together with his buffalo. Later the father of the farmers boy went to check up on the tragic incident, and discovered that the post that the farmers boy was trying to pull out, was the very top of the buried Buddha image. Nonetheless if there is a truth to the saying or not, the buried Buddha and the surrounding building with their colourful features, definitely is worth a visit (or two). Pay a visit to the temple, but do not try to unearth the Buddha - or you may be cursed too, like the poor farmers boy.
